Excursions in Liguria and Tuscany
By staying at the Hotel "Il Pilota," you will find yourself in a strategic location ideal for exploring some of the most fascinating gems of Liguria. This region is rich in history, natural beauty, and culture, and your adventure will begin just a few steps from our property. You can discover the beautiful town of Ameglia, located right on the shores of the Ligurian Sea.
Ameglia will welcome you with its characteristic seaside village, a place full of charm and authenticity. You can stroll along the coast and enjoy the panoramic view of the sea, capturing the relaxing atmosphere of this ancient fishing village.
For families, Ameglia also offers a playground where the little ones can have fun while you admire the view.
The property will allow you to easily reach well-known destinations in Liguria and Tuscany, such as: Lerici, Portovenere, the Cinque Terre, La Spezia, Luni, the marble quarries, Pisa, Florence, and Massa Carrara.
Lerici and the Cinque Terre
A few kilometres from "Il Pilota," you will have the opportunity to explore other pearls of Liguria. You can easily reach the renowned Lerici, a coastal town famous for its golden beaches and its medieval castle.
Also, don't miss an excursion to the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its picturesque seaside villages and the natural beauty of the Cinque Terre National Park, a paradise for hiking enthusiasts.
You can easily reach them by train from Sarzana and La Spezia stations or by boat from La Spezia, Lerici or Portovenere.
La Spezia and Portovenere
If you are interested in history and culture, the nearby city of La Spezia offers museums, art galleries and a wide variety of historical sites to explore.
A few kilometres from the centre, in Brugnato, there is also a well-known Outlet shopping destination.
In the province of La Spezia, a world-famous destination is Portovenere, where we recommend a visit to the Borgo Antico characterised by colourful houses overlooking the sea and narrow streets paved with stone. The walk through the streets is a pleasant experience that offers a panoramic view of the crystalline waters of the Ligurian Sea that can lead you to the famous Church of San Pietro: located on top of a cliff.
PISA and Lucca
If you can travel further, you can reach in about an hour the famous city of Pisa, known throughout the world for its iconic Leaning Tower, but offering much more in terms of history, culture and architectural beauty.
You can visit: Piazza dei Miracoli, museums, the Lungarni, take part in cultural events and taste excellent Tuscan cuisine.
Or we also recommend the splendid Lucca, a Tuscan city of extraordinary beauty, a place where the past and the present blend together in a fascinating harmony. Surrounded by mighty medieval walls, Lucca has retained its original appearance, with cobbled streets, historic squares and an atmosphere that enchants visitors. The historic centre of Lucca is a maze of cobbled streets, enclosed by imposing fortified walls that once served as defences against external threats, but today offer an enchanting panoramic walk.
Marble quarries
If you love nature, we recommend you visit the most famous site in Italy and in the world for the extraction of marble, which is in Carrara. The quarries of Carrara have provided the precious white marble used by artists of the calibre of Michelangelo to sculpt their majestic works.
The light reflecting on the marble walls creates a play of shadows and reflections that gives these underground spaces a surreal beauty.
